EU Commission Decision 98/83, amended by 2001/440, recognizes Florida to be free from the pest, with the exception of Broward County, Collier County, Miami - Dade County, Hendry County, Hillsborough County, Manatee County.

EPPO Reporting Service (99/182): spreading in private gardens and commercial orchards. Now in Collier, Dade & Browards, Hendry, Manatee counties.

EPPO Reporting Service (2000/035) : continues to spread. Found in 1999 in Tampa Bay (Hillsborough county) in a private garden. 10 commercial orchards are infested in Miami-Dade county
