Pest status declared by NPPO: Transient, actionable, and under eradication (2020-04)
EPPO Reporting Service 512/13, from NAPPO. Reports in Mexico now accepted by USA as erroneous; disease is caused by Alternaria limicola. This is confirmed by the Mexican Plant Protection Service.

Bacteria similar to the cancrosis B and Mexican lime cancrosis strains of X.c. pv. citri were associated with citrus bacteriosis affecting primarily Mexican lime (Citrus aurantifolia) in 1981. But since the mid-1980s, the X.c. pv. citri strains previously associated with citrus bacteriosis have not been isolated from naturally infected trees.

EU Commission Decision 98/83 of 8 January 1998 recognizes Mexico to be free from all strains of Xanthomonas campestris pathogenic to citrus.
