Comments
First reported in northern Spain in 1947 near Bilbao (Pais Vasco). Its presence has been reported at least from Andalucia, Asturias, Castilla y Leon, Cataluña , Galicia, Navarra and Pais Vasco.

EPPO Reporting Service (2005/050) : Cataluña (severe damage).

EPPO Reporting Service (2007/137) : still in Cataluña.

EPPO Reporting Service (2010/041) : occurs in Castilla y León. In this region, it was first detected in 1978 in Bembibre. At present it can be found in many chestnut stands in the areas of Leon and Zamora, and in some stands in the areas of Salamanca and Avila.

EPPO Reporting Service (2014/053) : first found in Andalucia in November 2012 in a chestnut orchard (Castanea sativa cv. 'Vazqueño') in Almonaster la Real (province of Huelva). In 2013, 6 other outbreak sites were detected in the vicinity of the first finding.
