Widespread in Central and Northern Italy. Absent from most parts of Southern Italy (some regions are EU protected zones), only 1 outbreak has been recorded in Campania region and is under eradication (NPPO, 2019).
EPPO Reporting Service (1994/166) : only forms from the north (Friuli region) are true flavescence dorée.
EPPO Reporting Service (1995/231) : both grapevine flavescence dorée phytoplasma and a phytoplasma of the aster yellows group (grapevine bois noir phytoplasma?) seem together to cause severe yellows in Liguria.
EPPO Reporting Service (1997/46) : found with bois noir phytoplasma in region of Treviso (Veneto). Presence in Friuli-Venezia Giuia and Veneto confirmed by EPPO Reporting Service (1999/095) .
EPPO Reporting Service (2000/077) : isolated focus near Cuneo in Piemonte-Val d'Aosta. Found in Liguria on a few 8-year old grapevines near Albenga. Spreading in Lombardia, in area of Oltepro pavese (south of Pavia - 50% incidence) and province of Brescia (60-70% incidence). In Emilia-Romagna, only in Piacenza province
