M. pini was found in the 1980s in one forest nursery in Baden-Württemberg, on Pinus mugo, P. nigra and P. leucodermis. The affected trees were destroyed.
EPPO Reporting Service (1998/203) : more recently (1997), found on pines in one forest nursery in Bayern. All infected trees were uprooted and burnt. The nursery and adjacent ones were kept under strict observation and found free.
EPPO Reporting Service (2014/082) : found in a new area in February 2014 (detected on Pinus nigra trees in a forest at Iffezheim, Baden-Württemberg). Under official control.
EPPO Reporting Service (2016/138) : also found on a small number of pine trees in Brandenburg, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
