Comments
According to Iturritxa et al. (2013), pitch canker was first found in 1995 in nurseries in Galicia (damaging Pinus radiata and P. halepensis) and then in Asturias. In 1998, it was also found in Pais Vasco. Now considered to be the primary cause of damage to P. radiata in nurseries and plantations in Northern Spain.

EPPO Reporting Service (1999/067) : not confirmed.

EPPO Reporting Service (2005/050) : first validated record, in Asturias on young plants of Pinus radiata and Pinus pinaster. Official control.

EPPO Reporting Service (2005/097) : more detailed information on the outbreak.

EPPO Reporting Service (2006/050) : detected in 12 nurseries in Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Galicia. Also in some plantations. Under eradication.

EPPO Reporting Service (2007/137) : infested plants in Asturias destroyed. Also Pais Vasco.

EPPO Reporting Service (2010/084) : País Vasco (found in 1 nursery, and on P. radiata in forests).

EPPO Reporting Service (2016/162) : País Vasco, surveys (2009 to 2012) detected the pathogen in 15% of the P. radiata plantations studied.

EPPO Reporting Service (2016/203) : País Vasco (1 new outbreak found in 2015 in Bizkaia).
