The first version of the CABI map mentioned Slovakia but the NPPO confirmed that it was an error as the article cited (Kudela, 1988) did not refer to E. amylovora in Slovakia (EPPO Reporting Service (1997/009) & EPPO Reporting Service (1997/079)). Official surveys confirmed the absence of fireblight until 2002 (EPPO Reporting Service (1999/175) , EPPO Reporting Service (2002/076) , EPPO Reporting Service (2003/069) ).
EPPO Reporting Service (2003/083) : first outbreaks detected in mid-June 2003, at 8 sites near the Hungarian border, in private gardens. Under eradication.
EPPO Reporting Service (2004/140) : detected at 20 sites, 13 for the first time and 7 as in 2003. Mainly in west, but 2 elsewhere.
EPPO Reporting Service (2005/090) : in 2004, 8 outbreaks remain, near Hungarian border, in small gardens or hedges.
