Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (1994/172) : first report in Cotoneaster salicifolius (two plants) in Vorarlberg province in the west of the country. Under eradication.

In 1998, the Austrian NPPO confirms that, over the period since 1993, the original foci were successfully eradicated but others appeared in the same province. The Maryblight forecasting system is now being used for control; streptomycin has been specially authorized for use during flowering. Eradication measures are being maintained.

Single outbreaks have also been detected in 1998 in the provinces of Tyrol and Salzburg.

Fireblight has not been found in nurseries.
