Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (1995/239) : indicates that a paper reporting the pathogen in Switzerland for the first time mentions an earlier report in Bulgaria. EPPO regarded this as unconfirmed in 1995.

From NPPO (2018): 50 infected trees (Pinus sylvestris) were found in a nursery in the municipality of Ardino in August 2017. All infested trees were destroyed. In May 2018, the outbreak was considered eradicated.

EPPO Reporting Service (2021/065) : L. acicola was found again in the municipality of Ardino and further spread in the Kardzhali district, mainly along the Arda river valley (approximately 25 km away from the first outbreak site).
