------- Brown rot of potato, caused by Ralstonia solanacearum has emerged as a major problem in the Russian Federation. Isolations from diseased potato plants in different parts of Russia gave 59 strains of race 3 (R. solanacearum [phylotype IIB-1]). Brown rot can cause severe losses in potato and tomato in some regions, but the geographical distribution is not specified.
