Potato spindle tuber viroid(PSTVD0)

Distribution details in Chile

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2013: Absent, invalid record
From CABI Disease map 729 (2012): Present, no details
Comments
Shamloul et al. (1997) mentioned the presence of PSTVd in Chile. However, the isolate found (designated PSTVd-P) was a variant of PSTVd recorded on an asymptomatic plant (Solanum muricatum) and differed in five positions from the type strain of PSTVd in potato. There are no records of PSTVd on potato in Chile as the pathogen has not been detected in potato surveys neither national seed potato certification by the NPPO, or by the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA), Chile. PSTVd is a quarantine pest for Chile.
