After a long period of absence, the disease reappeared in tobacco fields in 2002 with a severe epidemic (Krauthausen et al., 2003).
From NPPO (2019): tobacco is grown only in Southern Germany. According to data from the Federal Association of German Tobacco growers, an infestation occurred in 2014 in Baden-Württemberg and Bayern.
