EPPO Reporting Service (1996/165) and EPPO Ad hoc Panel on Diabrotica. Three adults caught in yellow sticky trap near Hungarian border.
EPPO Reporting Service (1998/01) : 1997 monitoring programme started in July with 240 pheromone traps in west. About 40000 adults have been trapped in Romania, mostly in Arad, Timix and Caras-Severin districts. In Aug/sep, adults started to be trapped in Mehedinti district which adjoins Bulgaria. Area in which adults are trapped is now about 10000 km2.
EPPO Reporting Service (1998/198) : insects trapped in two new districts, Bihor and Hunedoara. Potentially infested area now 12000 km2. No damage.
EPPO Reporting Service (2000/031) : continued to spread in 1999 towards east, northeast and along Danube
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/001) : now in 15 out of 20 counties, covering half territory of Romania. Populations have remained at same level. Larval damage observed in some counties in 2001.
EPPO Reporting Service (2003/001) : situation fairly stable
EPPO Reporting Service (2004/058) : numbers captured much increased in 2003, but no new areas colonized. Economic damage seen.
Now widespread (NPPO, 2011).
