Established in Ticino only, eradication measures continue. The use of crop rotation has been successful in maintaining pest populations under the economic threshold.
EPPO Reporting Service (2001/003) : first 4 catches in Ticino canton, near Lugano airport. Disinfestation applied, and maize cultivation now prohibited in area.

EPPO Reporting Service (2002/001) : further catches in Ticino canton. Insect now considered established in a small area. Eradication not considered feasible because of population levels in adjoining areas of Italy.
