Ring rot was first found in 1928 in Polisska resarch station, affecting 5% of the potatoes, which increased to 30% in 1930. Currently the disease is spread across Ukraine, affecting all regions, and it causes significant yield losses during both the potato vegetation period and storage (Melnik et al., 2009).
