Records of X. c. citri in Morocco are quite erroneous. They arise from uncritical recopying of a supposed record in a Soviet publication. PNKTO no 27, which had this record in 1983, deleted it from a revision in 1986.
EU Commission Decision 98/83 of 8 January 1998 recognizes Morocco to be free from all strains of Xanthomonas campestris pathogenic to citrus.
