Pest status declared by NPPO: Present, only in some parts of the Member State concerned, under containment, in case eradication is impossible (2019-09)
From CABI Pest map 234 (2006): Present, few occurrences
EPPO Reporting Service (1995/07) : found only on Madeira, in 1994, where an eradication programme was immediately established. Possibly introduced from South Africa.

The results of a 1995 survey showed that T. erytreae is restricted to Ribeira Brava county. Eradication and containment measures continue. Not found on Azores or mainland.

EPPO Reporting Service (2011/139) : the NPPO confirms that T. erytreae is established and widespread on Madeira but absent from the mainland.

EPPO Reporting Service (2015/204) : first record on the mainland. T. erytreae was discovered near Porto in 2015 and then found in other localities along the northern coast. Under eradication.

EPPO Reporting Service (2017/167) : surveys conducted in 2017 showed that T. erytreae occurs in a total of 36 municipalities (corresponding to a total of 178 parishes) in the Norte and Centro regions. Under eradication.

DGAV website (map of October 2018): Outbreaks are reported in Norte and Centro regions, as well as in the Área Metropolitana de Lisboa.

EPPO Reporting Service (2018/212) : a new map of demarcated areas is available from the Internet.

EPPO Reporting Service (2020/072) : as a result of new detections, the demarcated areas have been enlarged. Outbreaks have been reported mainly along the coast in Norte and Centro regions, as well as in the Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. The parasitoid Tamarixia dryi has been released to attempt biological control in several sites in Portugal as well as in Galicia (Spain).
