 Discovered in 1918 in Pennsylvania, later found in Maryland and West Virginia. Last infestations in Pennsylvania (1950s), Maryland (1951) and West Virginia (1969). Thought to have been eradicated by 1974, but found again in one garden in 1987. Viability not confirmed (Putman & Hampson, 1989).
EPPO Reporting Service 500/13 (1989): rediscovered in Maryland.
