EPPO Reporting Service (2010/058) : first found in 2007 in the province of Barcelona, it is present in Cataluña and Comunidad Valenciana.
EPPO Reporting Service (2014/100) : Agave americana is considered to be an invasive plant in Spain, and S. acupunctatus could help in reducing the plant populations (plant mortality is high).
From Martín-Taboada et al. (2019): surveys showed that it has spread along the coast in Cataluña, Comunidad Valenciana, Murcia and Andalucia.
