EPPO Global Database

Scirtothrips citri(SCITCI)

Distribution details in India (Jammu & Kashmir)

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2022: Absent, unreliable record
Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (2000/148) : reported on citrus in Jammu.
As this was the only record outside America, it was at that time considered doubtful. Later publications have confirmed the presence of the pest in India. However, none of these publications are from trained taxonomists and Tyagi & Kumar (2016) do not list Scirtothrips citri. Previous records may be misindentification (e.g. with Scirtothrips dorsalis which causes damage on citrus).
