Ralstonia solanacearum(RALSSL)

Distribution details in Morocco

Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 1997: Absent, pest no longer present
Comments
From country itself (1992): found in 1935 on tomato, in 1949 on chrysanthemum, and in 1951 on capsicum. Not detected since in national surveys, so presumed to have disappeared.

EPPO Reporting Service (1996/90) : confirms never found on potatoes.

EPPO Reporting Service (1998/25) : after interception of two lots of Moroccan ware potatoes in France, surveys were done to determine the production areas and the origin of the seed potatoes. The first lot (of Dutch origin) was grown at two sites, and the other lot came from three sites (seed potatoes from several EU countries had been used - France, Ireland, Netherlands, Denmark). Quarantine measures have been taken at the production sites, but the bacterium has not yet been detected again. Surveys will continue in the next growing season.
