Apple proliferation mainly occurs in Northern Italy (Emilia-Romagna, Lombardia, Piemonte,Trentino-Alto Adige, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto), but it has also been found in the South (Basilicata).

EPPO Reporting Service (1993/121) : mainly in northern Italy. Important in a few areas of Friule and Alto Adige. Rare and unimportant in Veneto and Emilia-Romagna.

EPPO Reporting Service (1997/170) : observed in southern Italy in 1994/1995 for the first time.

EPPO Reporting Service (2000/077) : found in Trentino in 1999.

EPPO Reporting Service (2003/165) : widespread in Valle d'Aosta.
