EPPO Reporting Service (2011/082) : invasive mealybug which is a serious threat to cotton production in China.
EPPO Reporting Service (2011/150) : in China, P. solenopsis was first found in August 2008 in Guangzhou city on Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. Field surveys carried out from 2008 to 2010 showed that it occurs in 8 provinces: Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan Yunnan, and Zhejiang. In South China, its distribution is scattered. The pest has mainly been found on hibiscus, but attacked cotton crops have been reported in Jiangxi and Hunan.
