An earlier record had been made in Veneto in one plant of Portulaca (Cosmi et al., 2003) but IYSV has not been reported again from that region.

From PPO of Emilia-Romagna (2009-01): in 2008,4 onion fields were found infected by IYSV in Emilia-Romagna. Disease incidence was very low in 3 fields (1-3%) and reached 40-50% in 1 field. Thrips populations were lower than in 2007. Economic impact did not appear significant.

EPPO Reporting Service (2011/017) : detected again in Veneto on 2 onion crops (Allium cepa), no crop loss reported.

EPPO Reporting Service (2011/088) : detected in Piemonte.

According to Zicca et al. (2012), Manglli et al. (2012), Minutolo et al. (2013): also in Veneto, Calabria and Campania.
