EPPO Reporting Service 495/04 (1988): C. capitata only occurred a few times close to fruit markets and has never survived the winter. It does not now occur in Germany.
From NPPO (2018): from 2015 to 2017, official monitoring surveys for C. capitata showed that although the pest cannot overwinter in Germany, it is regularly introduced via fruits from infested countries and might be able to build transient populations in areas with suitable summer climates.
