The bibliographic sources (Yang et al., 1987; Yin et al., 1988) indicate only that inoculation studies were done in Hunan. There is no clear record that the nematode is naturally present in that province.

The publication from Shi et al. (2013) considers that B. xylophilus occurs in Hunan.
