Comments
Since 1927 portions of the Lower Rio Grande Valley have been designated as a fruit fly quarantine areas. Incursions are occasionnally reported but are always submitted to eradication measures.

EPPO Reporting Service (2001/012) : 159 individuals caught in lower Rio Grande Valley (under eradication).

EPPO Reporting Service (2002/020) : all infestations in lower Rio Grande Valley declared eradicated in September 2001.

EPPO Reporting Service (2003/067) : further incursions in 2003.

In June 2013 an incursion was detected in Willacy county, Texas.
In January 2014, 5 adult were detected in residential areas of Weslaco (Hidalgo county) and 1 female in Willacy county. More findings were then made in Hidalgo county. In October 2014, the quarantine area in Welasco (Hidalgo county) was removed.
In March 2015, this fruit fly was detected in the areas of Missions and La Villa (Hidalgo county). In April 2015, it was also found in Cameron county. Eradication continues.
In 2016, several findings (isolated specimens) were made in different counties (Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, Webb, Zapata). All were eradicated.
In 2017, 1 mated female was found in Palmview (Hidalgo county), 1 larva was found in San Ygnacio (Zapata county), and a transient population was found in Brownsville (Cameron county). All were eradicated.
In 2018, 1 mated female was found in March in San Perlita and 1 larva was found in April in Brownsville. All were eradicated. However, in December, 1 female was found in a residential area in Laredo.
In 2019, several specimens were found in March in Hidalgo and Zapata counties.
In 2022, several quarantine areas in Cameron, Hidalgo and Zapata counties. Declared as present only in some areas in Texas.
