Notes

South America (northwestern) to northeastern Brazil. Cultivated for its edible tubers. Propagated vegetatively so that numerous cultivars exist, some of which may be of hybrid origin. Accordingly, the name is frequently used to cover all cultivated xanthosomas with edible tubers. Introduced in Bangladesh, Malesia (Malaya, Borneo), Guinée, Gabon, Zaïre, Zimbabwe, USA (Florida), Central America, Caribbean, Pacific islands
