Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (1996/044): found in Adelaide Hills area in March 1994 (second outbreak in Australia). Eradicated.

According to Gillings et al. (1998) Australasian Plant Pathology 27, 97-103, an outbreak in South Australia in 1994 was compared with isolates from earlier (eradicated) outbreaks in New South Wales and New Zealand, by whole genome DNA fingerprinting and repetitive element PCR. The bacterium was confirmed as X. fragariae, but differed sufficiently from the earlier isolates to be considered as probably a separate introduction. The outbreak was eradicated.
