First recorded in: 2010
EPPO Reporting Service (2015/075) : first found in August 2010 in the locality of Amaiur, province of Navarra (northern Spain), and then in several other localities in the 3 provinces of País Vasco. Some reports have also been made in Girona (Cataluña) although it seems that V. velutina is not established in this area.

EPPO Reporting Service (2017/028) : also found in Cantabria, Asturias, La Rioja, Illas Baleares (Mallorca), Castilla y León and Galicia.
