Notes

Euromediterranean region (except north and southeast), Siberia, Central Asia, Russian Far East, Korea, southeast Asia. Introduced into North America and Australia. Cultivated, particularly in China, for its edible fruits. In the past, many different species of Trapa were described, but the current view is to combine most into T. natans. A var. bispinosa is distinguished in Asia
