The source of the doubtful record is the PNKTO data sheet of USDA. This quotes Banks (1977) who includes Côte d'Ivoire in a table under the heading "Areas where some authors say that T. granarium exists but others deny it". Swaine & Mutter (1961) indicate that the pest is present, while Reddy (1969) says it is absent.
