Notes

Native to Euromediterranean region (except north), Caucasus, Siberia, Russian Far East, Central Asia, Western Asia, Himalayas, Indochina, Malesia, China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Mauretania to Sudan, New Guinea, Australia (except Western). Cultivated forms of this species are now distinguished as 'cultigens' (see Setaria italica). Introduced in northern Europe, Canada, USA, Mexico, Central America, South America (except northwest to Bolivia), New Zealand.
