Comments
In 2007, the NPPO of South Africa officially declared that the pest was no longer present on its territory on the basis of a paper by Rugman-Jones et al. (2006) which shows that thrips previously identified as S. dorsalis on Ricinus communis in South Africa were not S. dorsalis (molecular studies).
