Pest status declared by NPPO: Transient actionable, under eradication (2021-05)
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/167) : article in Annals of Benaki Institute refers to records on tomato in 1984 and 1986, and nothing since.
EPPO Reporting Service (2007/176) : Present, reported again in 2006 after 40 years of absence, one outbreak in Peloponnese, under official control.
NPPO (2021): during the annual survey programme samples of potato tubers originated from the Municipality of Leukogeia (region of Drama) was found infected by Ralstonia solanacearum (pathotype II). The infested area covers a field of around 0.7 ha where ware potato is cultivated. Official phytosanitary measures were adopted for the eradication of the pest according to presidential Degree 255/2000 and Directive 93/85/EC as amended.

------- In annual surveys from 1995-2016, R. solanacearum [phylotype IIB-1] was detected in 49 lots of ware potato (19 lots in 2001, 10 in 2002, 4 in 2003, 5 in 2004, 3 in 2006, 3 in 2009, 1 in 2010, 1 in 2011, 1 in 2013 and 2 in 2014) and 5 lots of seed potato (1 in 1997, 3 in 2006 and 1 in 2007). Official eradication measures were taken.

------- R. solanacearum sensu lato was first discovered in the Kalavryta, a remote and mountainous area in Peloponessos, in 2001. The bacterium was first found on tomatoes, with 3 farms designated as contaminated. Surveying was expanded and contamination was eventually also found in 19 potato farms in seven villages.
