EPPO Reporting Service (2009/215) : first described in Japan in the 1980s (isolates were collected from diseased kiwifruit in 1984 in the Prefecture of Shizuoka). Bacterial canker is considered as a limiting factor for the production of kiwifruit with significant losses in fruit production as well as plant mortality.
