Liriomyza langei is morphologically indistinguishable from L. huidobrensis and was as some point considered as a synonym. However, the distinction between the two species has been confirmed by molecular studies (Scheffer, 2000; Scheffer & Lewis, 2001; Takano et al., 2008, Xuan et al., 2023).
