Notes

South America. Cultivated as a ground-cover plant for gardens in dry climates. Introduced in Mediterranean, Western Asia, Indian subcontinent, China, Japan, southeast Asia, most of Africa, North America, Central America, Caribbean, Australia.  This species is also indicated in the literature as native in most of the above range, but this seems improbable
