Notes

Origin probably in eastern Europe and western Asia. Widely cultivated as a dye-plant since ancient  times, till its replacement by indigo and synthetic dyes. The plant has remained widespread in practically all Europe, Mediterranean (except southeast), Canary Islands, Russian Far East, Central Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, North America, South America
