EPPO Reporting Service (2012/055) : first observed in hop gardens in 2007 in the Savinja valley and Koroška region, under eradication. This is also the first time that HSVd is detected on hop in Europe.
EPPO Reporting Service (2015/111) : systematic surveys detected HSVd in 1 sample out of a total of 59 samples in 2012. In 2013 and 2014, HSVd was not detected in any sample. Further research showed that the causal agent of the 'severe hop stunt disease' observed in Slovenia is another viroid, Citrus bark cracking viroid. Nevertheles, eradication continues.
