From NPPO (2020): first found during surveys in Terceira Island in 2019. The pest was first detected in a 12 ha forest stand in the parish of São Mateus, and then in a 3 ha forest in the parish of Ribeirinha, as well as in 20 other locations. No severe damage was observed (only a few gnawed leaves).
