There are taxonomic uncertainties about E. fimbriata and E. scammelli. These species are morphologically very similar which has created confusion. Some taxonomists consider that they are two distinct species, with E. fimbriata feeding on Rosaceae and E. scammelli feeding on Ericaceae which would mean that the blueberry aphid is E. scammelli only.
