Throughout natural range of hosts in California, Oregon, Washington and Florida (EPPO DS 1982). First recorded in New York, 1904 (Australian DS).

Temperate regions: at least the eastern 1/3 of USA as well as the western states mentioned above (USDA).

------- A chronological account is given of chestnut importations into the USA. C. parasitica was first reported in 1904 in New York and within 50 years had spread throughout the range of the native Castanea dentata.
