Comments
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/053) : though there were unconfirmed records from earlier years, CTV was long considered not to be present in Greece. This was confirmed by surveys (1995 to 2000). In 2000, a first infected tree was found at Argolis (Peloponesos region), associated with illegally introduced material from Spain. Traceback operations led to the discovery of more infected trees, also in Kriti, and over 3500 trees were destroyed. A few cases of natural transmission were observed at Argolis.

In 2001, CTV was found again, in certified material of clementine on citrange rootstock from Spain.

EPPO Reporting Service (2008/124) : CTV is considered eradicated in Argolis (Peloponnese). However, it has recently been detected in the Arta valley (Northern Greece) and in Skala Lakonias (Southern Peloponnese). CTV is also present in Crete (Chania, Rehtymnon and Heraklion prefectures). Eradication measures are being taken (more than 4000 trees have been destroyed, so far).

EPPO Reporting Service (2009/214) : found in 2007/2008 in commercial glasshouses producing calamondin pot plants near Athens. All plants (81 560 in total) were destroyed.
