In 1987, a viroid-like RNA similar to CCCVs was detected in oil palms with yellow leaf spotting (low incidence ca. 1%) and in some coconut palms (not showing typical symptoms of CCCVd). These CCCVd-related molecules are now considered to be different from CCCVd occurring in the Philippines.
