Subsp. aegyptiaca (also known as subsp. maritima) occurs in Spain, Portugal and Mediterranean; subsp. integrifolia (also known as subsp. maritima) occurs along the Atlantic coasts of Europe. A subspecies known as C. edentula subsp. islandica (or C. arctica, or C. lapponica) occurs along the northern coast of Scandinavia and Russia.
