B. tabaci is reported occasionally on glasshouse crops (mainly poinsettias) where it is introduced via imported plant material. When the pest is detected, it is subject to eradication measures to prevent its permanent establishment in production units.
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/039) : found at 3 nurseries in November 2001.
EPPO Reporting Service (2008/159) : found in 38 glasshouse nurseries producing poinsettias.
EPPO Reporting Service (2009/140) : found in 2009-04 on pot plants of Calibrachoa and Begonia at 1 place of production; and in 2009-04 on pot plants of Begonia at another place of production. According to the NPPO, it was also found in 2009 on Euphorbia pulcherrima (14 places of production) and Mandevilla sanderi (1 place of production).
From NPPO (2010-08): found on pot plants of Euphorbia pulcherrima at 1 place of production, under eradication.
EPPO Reporting Service (2011/203) : found in pot plants of Mandevilla at 3 places of production, on plants of Dichondra at 1 place of production, and on pot plants of Euphorbia pulcherrima at 2 places of production. Eradication measures were taken.

In January 2013, the NPPO declared that in 2012 B. tabaci was found in 15 glasshouses producing poinsettia and 1 glasshouse producing varius ornamentals. Under eradication.
In May 2014, the NPPO declared that all outbreaks detected in 2013 in greenhouse production have been eradicated.
