Comments
B. tabaci was rarely a significant pest in China until the late 1990s when serious outbreaks occurred in southern and northern China. This was later attributed to the invasion by the B-biotype. Since then, the B-biotype has spread to more than 20 provinces. The Q-biotype was first recorded in 2003, and investigations have shown that it has become the predominant biotype in some regions of northern and southern China (Yuan et al., 2012).

EPPO Reporting Service (2006/029) : details on B and non-B biotypes in different provinces.

Further details also provided by Pan et al. (2011); Zheng et al. (2017).
