Comments
Parlatore (1858) indicated that the species is established in Sicily in bushland near Palermo and at 'Firriatu di Villafranca'.
Di Benedetto & Lorefice (1983) recorded the species near the Etna.
According to Gianiantonio Domina (University of Palermo, pers. comm., 2013), Asparagus asparagoides populations in Sicilia are stable, and do not exhibit so far an invasive behaviour.
