South Africa. Widely cultivated as a house plant. Previously considered to be included with A. densiflorus in the species A. sprengeri. Since the latter was recognized to be potentially invasive, a distinction has been determined between A. aethiopicus, which is potentially invasive, and A. densiflorus, which is not and is therefore more suitable for cultivation. The true current identity of ‘Sprenger’s Asparagus’ is the cultivar Asparagus densiflorus ‘Sprengeri’.
